The annual “Big Gay Out” was in its 20th year last weekend. It had perfect weather, 2 stages and lots of vendors. Sponsored by “Ending HIV,” I could not think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

This 7 hour event was free to the public and promoted safe sex and testing for HIV & Hepatitis C. There were lots of company sponsors, an array of food trucks and live bands.

This was my first time at this event, and it got me excited for Splore. The vibe was welcoming and “Love” was a common theme. From drag queens to transgenders, there was space for everyone!

TIP: There was not much shade, nor a cloud in the sky. I would recommend investing in a small travel tent that protects from the sun to bring to events like this, the beach and other summer activities.
