What I’m Going to Miss

It’s my last weekend in the States, and I am starting to realize the things I am going to miss the most. My parents are in Finland, and I will be visiting them before I finally meet my new French family. This means I will fondly miss my pets and friends the most. After them, here is my short list of things I have been trying to enjoy as much as possible since I do not know when exactly I will be back:

  1. Automatic Cars
This is the biggest challenge I am going to face when I move in with my family. My primary job is to drive the kids to and from school, in a stick shift mini van. I have practiced a few times, but am not 100% confident. Every time I practice, I think how privileged we are as Americans to have more automatic cars than manual. I sincerely believe if Americans had to drive manual cars, that people would not be in such a rush and take their time when driving.
  2. Wawa
From the cheapest gas around, to HoagieFest and the convenient ATM; “Gotta have a Wawa”
    Hoagiefest!

  3. Reality TV
As bad as it is, I do find it entertaining. In order to save some money before I left, I downgraded my cable package. The best, and only channel I watched, was Viceland. Viceland has both reality shows, and is great new source. Not only will I miss my Housewives and Kardashians, but I will miss that genuine journalism.
  4. Nail Care
I normally have acrylic nails, however, I have finally been able to grow out my nails. Going from fill-ins to manicures is definitely much better, but Americans take care of their nails different than Europeans. The only nail salon I saw when I studied abroad was in London. Looks like I will become a master at doing my own nails.
